Sjätte AP-fonden invests in ANS. ANS has now secured funds for the next two years when verification projects will be done together with a number of potential customers, including Volvo Powertrain, Scania and Hägglunds Drives.

ANS moves to a new office in Uppsala. The new address is Dag Hammarskölds väg 26. The office is located in Uppsala Science Park, only 5 minutes walk from the Ångström Laboratory.

ANS is expanding its operations and hires 3 new development engineers. Per Wahlström (MSc in Materials Engineering), Mattias Granlund (MSc in Product Development) and Leif Kuzavas.

ANS, Volvo Powertrain, Scania and Uppsala University launches joint project with 2.9 MSEK in funding from the Proenviro Program. The funding will be used to verify friction reduction in heavy duty diesel engines, and the target is to improve the fuel economy by 1.8%. The project brings together two of the world’s largest and best engine manufacturers, a leading University in Materials Science and ANS’ new and innovative coating technology.
ProEnviro was set up jointly by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, SSF, and the Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research, Mistra.

Applied Nano Surfaces was featured in Sweden’s largest technical newspaper: NyTeknik. The ANS technology was presented as a cost effective way to reduce friction and thus energy waste in a huge variety of applications.

Applied Nano Surfaces’ CTO, Nils Stavlid, is awarded “innovator of the year” in Uppsala for his ground breaking research in Tribology. Nils is also nominated for the SKAPA prize (sweden’s largest innovation prize in the memory of Alfred Nobel).
